Anjeli is a qualified Data Protection/Privacy lawyer and has held Head of Information and Data Protection Compliance and Global Data Protection Officer positions. She has significant senior leadership experience and more than two decades of legal experience in data protection.
Anjeli has a particular interest in data protection, freedom of information, PECR privacy rules and PCI DSS compliance, she provides provide transactional, regulatory and dispute resolution advice and strategic business support across multinational matrix-oriented environments. She is also a Certified GDPR Practitioner with a CISMP Certificate in Information Security Management, and an ITIL(R) Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management.
She joined the Phoenix Group as their global group deputy DPO on the 2ndof November 2020. Prior to that Anjeli was the Director of Information and Data Compliance (Group DPO) at Warwick University and before that the Head of Data Protection (DPO) at Coventry University. Anjeli has also spent considerable time in the public sector working for Coventry City council as a senior solicitor in their Regulatory team leading on data protection and information law.
UK Data Protection Index Panel
The UK Data Protection Index was launched by the Data Protection World Forum and The DPO Centre at the end of July, and is based on an anonymised survey of a panel of UK data protection and privacy professionals. The survey runs every quarter and overtime will build a unique picture of the profession and its views. This panel will be discussing the results of the latest index survey, covering a diverse range of subjects including professional development, Brexit and the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
