Employee surveillance and biometric data has seen a surge in use over the past few years including in the workplace. For example employers use this for Fingerprint scanners, iris scanners, and facial recognition are deployed to open doors, unlock elevators, and to decrypt computers and files on a regular basis by big corporations and public organisations.
Although this can be an efficient way for an organisation to keep track of their staff, this has serious implications if data is lost or misused. This panel will look at the ethics and privacy implications of the use of biometric data and best practice for employers using this data.
