Gordon joined the Hostelworld Group as DPO & Group Legal Counsel in January 2020. Hostelworld is the leading global hostel-focused online booking platform. Headquartered in Dublin, with offices around the world in London, Shanghai, Sydney and Porto, Hostelworld has more than 13 million reviews across 17,700 hostels in more than 179 countries. Prior to joining Hostelworld in January 2020, Gordon was a senior data privacy lawyer with PwC Legal Middle East in Dubai.

Gordon is a regular contributor to leading legal and business journals on privacy and data protection and has been invited as expert panellist and speaker at the French Institute of Risk & Compliance’s 2019 European Compliance & Technology Conference, Paris, the 2017 Virgin Media Business Ireland TechConnect Live Conference, Dublin, the GDPR Summit 2017, Dublin and Chartered Accountants Ireland's Annual Conference 2018. Gordon has been a regular panellist at IAPP events and webinars during Covid-19 including the Dublin, Cork and UAE KnowledgeNet Chapters in 2020. Gordon was appointed IAPP Young Privacy Professional for the IAPP Dublin Chapter for 2021.

Gordon obtained his law degree from University College Dublin and LLM from Trinity College Dublin. Gordon is admitted as a solicitor in Ireland and England & Wales and is a New York-qualified attorney. Gordon holds the status of Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP) from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) as well as the CIPP/E and CIPM certifications together with the OneTrust DataGuidance OTCP certification and Certificate in Data Protection Law from the Law Society of Ireland.

Whatsapp came under fire recently by changing its privacy policy to give access to data to its sister site Facebook leading millions to switch to more privacy friendly sites such as Signal.
