Gary Fildes is a Principal Cyber Security Inspector for the ONR who are responsible for regulating safety and security in civil nuclear licensed sites across the UK. Gary has 20+ years industry experience which has spread across education, commercial and government sectors. He has held various roles in commercial and government environments, ranging from infrastructure design and information security though his passion lies in delivering technical training and mentorship to new entrants into InfoSec vis the UK Cyber Ready Programme sponsored by CompTIA.

There is much discussion of a skills gap within cybersecurity. But is there really a lack of qualified candidates on the job seekers market? Or are employer expectations limiting the talent pool? Is the picture the same globally? What are the regional differences? In this session we explore how the industry can address the skills gap and the work that is being done across the full talent and training pipeline, including on non-traditional routes into the profession.
