Dr Ololade Shyllon

Privacy Policy Manager, Africa and Middle East, Facebook

Ololade Shyllon leads privacy policy across Africa and the Middle East at Facebook. In this role, she is responsible for working with internal and external stakeholders to continuously shape and inform Facebook’s vision of building a privacy-focused messaging and social networking platform.

She is a human rights lawyer with expertise spanning the three information related rights of freedom of expression, access to information and privacy. She has led and participated in developing regional normative frameworks as well as engaged in research, capacity building and advocacy in relation to these three information related rights across Africa. She previously worked at the Centre for Human Rights at the University of Pretoria and at the secretariat of theAfrican Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights in Banjul, the Gambia. She holds a doctorate in human rights law from the University of Pretoria.
